Dr. Fouts earned her PhD in cultural anthropology at Washington State University in 2002 and completed her bachelor's degrees in psychology and Anthropology from Central Washington University. After graduate school, she moved to the eastern us and spent four years a s a post-doctoral fellow at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development in the section on Social and Emotional Development. Dr. Fouts was appointed as Dean of the Graduate School in January 2024.
